Airbnb Guest Leaves a Bad Review… What the Host Did Next Shocked Everyone

In 2022, Shawn Mackey from Mississippi planned a weekend reunion with old friends in Memphis. He rented an Airbnb house called “Little Bit More Country” for two nights and paid $567 per night. Mackey told the host, Pamela Fohler, that a few friends might visit for dinner, and she asked him to register any guests who came.

When Mackey arrived, he shared a list of dinner guests with the host. Soon after, Fohler accused him of breaking house rules by inviting too many people and disturbing the neighborhood. She told him he had violated the “no party” rule and asked him to leave. Mackey said this was not true and claimed only one extra guest had come. After speaking with the host’s husband, he was allowed to finish his stay and checked out the next day.

Later, Mackey wrote a negative review of the property and asked Airbnb for a partial refund. The request was denied. According to Mackey, the host then began harassing him. He claims she sent security camera photos of him with another woman to his wife and threatened to share more footage.

Mackey says the incident caused emotional distress and problems in his marriage. He has filed a lawsuit seeking damages for privacy invasion and harassment.
