In Aurora, Colorado, a man named Eugene Robertson was sentenced to 143 years in prison after a violent crime spree that began at a Burger King drive-thru. The incident started when a Burger King employee refused to accept illegal substances as payment for food. Robertson responded by pulling out a gun and threatening the worker.
After leaving the restaurant, he continued committing crimes the same night. He pointed a gun at another store clerk, fired shots at a gas station, shot at surveillance cameras, and later fired gunshots into a residential area. Thankfully, no one was physically hurt during these incidents.
Robertson was later arrested and went to trial. A jury found him guilty on 17 felony charges, including multiple counts of attempted killing. Because the judge ordered the sentences to be served one after another, not at the same time, his total sentence added up to 143 years in prison.
