In 2018, when Amedy Dewey was just 18, her stepfather sh*t her in the face in a case of domestic violence, tragically k**ling her mother in the same incident.

Amedy suffered extreme facial trauma and underwent over 37 reconstructive surgeries over seven years.

Most recently, at age 25, she was able to eat solid food normally again for the first time in years, a major milestone in her long process of healing.

Beyond the physical trauma, she now works as a trauma therapist and advocate, helping others by speaking out about domestic violence, mental health, and gun safety.
