In December 2020, a 48-year-old man from Como, Italy walked out after an argument with his wife—just to “clear his head.” He said he just kept walking.
A week later, he had covered about 450 km (around 280 miles), averaging roughly 60 km a day, and said he’d been getting by on food and water offered by strangers along the way.
His journey ended at 2 a.m. near Fano, on Italy’s Adriatic coast, when police stopped him for breaking the strict COVID curfew. They fined him €400.
Online, people quickly nicknamed him “Italy’s real-life Forrest Gump.”
