Kuwait’s armed forces reported that their air defense systems unintentionally downed three U.S. F-15 fighter jets in what has been described as a friendly fire incident during intense regional attacks linked to Iran.
According to officials, the aircraft were incorrectly identified as hostile while Kuwaiti defenses were on maximum alert for incoming missiles and drone threats. As a result, interceptor missiles were fired, destroying the three jets.
All six American crew members successfully ejected and were later rescued. Authorities from both nations have launched a joint inquiry to determine how such a serious misidentification occurred during wartime conditions.
