No one tells you this is the hardest part of raising a son.
It’s not the sleepless nights.
It’s not the scraped knees.
It’s the day he pretends he doesn’t need you.
He walks ahead.
He answers in one word.
He acts like he’s got the whole world handled.
But then he has a bad day.
And for a split second…
The little boy comes back.
In the way he sits a little closer.
In the way he doesn’t pull away when you kiss his head.
In the way he still eats the sandwich you made.
Teenage boys don’t outgrow their moms.
They just stop saying how much they still need them.
