A 14-year-old student from Los Angeles built a mobile app to help immigrants understand their legal rights during encounters with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Created with support from his STEM teacher, the app explains key rights in a simple, accessible way and even quizzes users to reinforce what they’ve learned. His innovation has already earned national recognition after winning the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for California’s 34th District—a notable achievement for such a young developer.
